cloudy amber-orange color. The head is two inches in height, and recedes slowly leaving nice lacing. The aroma is very herbal with a solid mead-like character. It is a very strong aroma, and has nice complexity. The taste is a nice balance of sweet malt, herbs, honey, and a considerable alcohol presence
Nogne Sahti
Nogne IPA
Pours an orange hazy amber color. flavor has a bit of grapefruit but mostly it’s herbal and somewhat earthy, and the subsantial malt background just needs more hops to play off of it. There is some caramel and also some biscuity, toasty malt
Nogne #100
mahogany brown, hazy, tan fine-beaded foam, decent head retention, huge wallop of caramel maltiness with hints of prunes, molasses, and leather; then a strong enteric bitterness sweeps in to crush the sweetness, leaving a citrus rind aftertaste in the dryish finish.
Black flag imperial stout
Very dark brown with garnet highlights and a giant, fluffy, dark tan cap. Pillowy head with chunky, thick lacing. Floral hops in the aroma, almost to the point of perfume, plus some citrus, roast, caramel, and nuts
Deschutes hop trip pale ale
Herbal, grassy and very medicinal hop aroma, with mild tropical fruits. Red/orange brick color. Initially solely hop accented, in a nice way, until the beer warms and butter toffee and caramel-like malt flavor develop underneath. Grass, resin throughout with pine on the finish.
Leafer Madness IPA
Clear, amber with reddish highlights, and a nice well retaining tan head. The aroma is very good, fresh, grassy, piney hops, with citric notes. Biscuity malt notes provide a measure of balance, although the hops dominate easily. Firm body, with a good carbonation, the taste is mostly bitter as expected. Citric, grassy, fruity, although apples appear more than I expected
Allagash fluxus 09
Aroma is a bit spicy with no sweet potato or any other abnormal aromas. Slighlty sweet with some lemon grass and lemon peel. Spicy flavor profile. Almost like fresh ground pepper but a little less spiciness. Certainly some yeastiness and lemon.
Telegraph White ale
hazy beige with a thin white head. Slight wheaty smell, with tart citrus, orange, and some peppery spice. Nice floral touch as well. The flavor is really tart with a spicy finish. A hint of orange sweetness, but finishes rather dry
Telegraph California Ale
Pours a cloudy orange/brown, thin off white head, lace spots, settles to a thin layer, head lasts. Smell is neat, sweet, honey, bit of funk, sour fruity middle, citrus/lemons, kind of yeasty. Taste is similar, malty, wheat, citrus, sourness, floral and fruit, bit of vanilla, yeast and fruits in the finish, decent complexity, flavors work well together.
Hair of dog blue dot double IPA
Pours a deep clear gold, with a thick white foam that lasts well. Nice steady streams of carbonation present. The aroma is a mix of herbal, citrus hops and a spicy bite. Lemon/citrus flavor appears initially in the taste, plus a bready spice. There is a nice complexity here.
